For the main characters we used an ironic twist to their clothing. Meg wears a pink floaty dress that gives a 'cute' impression, it is quite light hearted and pretty. Anna wears a black strappy dress that is quite plain suggesting she may be the bad person, but it is the opposite way around and at the party after Meg takes the necklace she is then also in a black dress showing her true colours. - she would change her outfit because of what had happened, to remove any evidence. Jo wears casual white top and coat, this is just so she is portrayed as an average teenage girl out and about, we could have made it more effective by dressing her in vulnerable clothing but it would then appear obvious and we wanted to include some mystery to our footage.

Equiptment Used to Film and Edit
To film we used a tripod and also we used free hand,
-the camera we used to film is the sony handycam DCR-SR58E
-to edit our final piece we used iMovie on the white apple macbook.

Filming on Day 2
This was the second section for out final piece. Here we filmed in the daylight at around 1pm, this was the day we filmed how meg was feeling and reacting to what had happened when anna took the necklace and flushed it away. This section had less relevance and was mainly a follow on from what had happened previously. The advantage of being inside/outisde and upstairs/downstairs meant we could get a huge variety of effective shots and angles. We finished filming and began to import our footage onto the Mac so we could then edit the clips.
Filming on Day 1
First day of filming we filmed the first section of our final piece. We started filming at about 5:30pm when it was beginning to get dark. In this section we used the car to film in and we also filmed outside of the car too. At this time we were filming at St. Georges golf club, down the windy roads and in the car park. We did many out takes and experimented with different camera angles per clip so we had the option of what ones to use when it comes to editing everything together. It was dark outside but you can still see the action well, we were woried that it would be too dark to film but it adds to the effect we wanted to give across anyway. Once we had finished filming here we drove to the party and filmed Myself and Meg walking to the door and entering, we then took a short clip of the night inside whith every body dancing and a relevant part of the story was someone saying to meg 'i like your necklace'. This was all we filmed on the first day.

Construction of Title
Once we got a story together we felt it would be a good idea to think of a title to go with it. We wanted it to be short and snappy but also relevant and quite effective. A number of suggestions were made such as:
- The necklace
- Guilt
- Visions
Those are just a few of the suggestions that we definitely were not happy with.
In the end we came up with the title: KARMA
We all agreed and really liked this title, it matched what we wanted and made a lot of sense, it also was going to help us build atmosphere when we were filming/acting/editing.
Ignoring the religious side of karma, we thought this would be relevant because meg hits jo and doesn't want to come clean, she also steals the necklace and because she had done wrong - she is then followed by bad luck and bad things start happening to her - this is a perfect example of karma.

StoryLine, Mise en Scene, Camera angles & Sound.
Scene1. Car driving through the estate .
C-Meg and Anna wearing party clothes - off to a party, Anna in black, Meg in pale pink (we created ironic costuming so audience wont guess Meg is bad and Anna is good).
L-There are street lights outside of the car and the headlights shine on the road, there is also the gadgets inside the car that light up, apart from these it is late at night and dark lighting is set - this is creating atmosphere.
A-The girls act happy and excitable for the party, everything is going really well, they are acting like best friends would messing around.
M-Both girls are wearing make up suitable for a house party, not too much but just the right amount, both have their hair down.
P-There are no props in this scene.
S-Down a road/estate called St.Georges Hill by the golf club/car park.
Camera angles: 2 shot, wide angle shot, long shot and close up.
Sound: diegetic music from inside the car stereo, the music is ambient to build an atmosphere of excitement and the synchronous sound of the car. We also will use sound effects to create tension and atmosphere when we edit.
Scene2. Inside the car the girls are singing and acting oblivious.
C- Same costumes as before.
L- The lighting is also the same.
A- The acting starts to become more excitable the girls act dumb and immature in the car.

Scene3. Meg receives a call from Jo saying she is at the entrance of the carpark, they cannot see her?
C-Still the same.
L- The light from the phone becomes apparent, surrounded by darkness giving it all attention.
A-The girls look at the phone and Anna picks up, she acts confused and slightly annoyed, Meg also gets confused and tells Anna what to do.

C- All costume is the same.

C-Still is the same.
L- Street light yet still dark.
A-Anna acts furious and gets back into the car. Meg waits till Anna cannot see and she takes the necklace off of Jo's neck and mumbles, 'well it was my exes' meaning her ex gave Jo the necklace, this is an extremely evil action to take and this is where things get bad.

Camera angles: close up.
Sound: synchronous / selective sound - flush.
Making Fake Blood
In our group we got together to make some fake blood.
Ingredients included:
- Golden Syrup
- Red Food Colouring
- Green Food Colouring
- Hot water
- Flour
we found that the golden syrup made the consistency of the mixture too thick and sticky for blood so we added hot water, instead of using just red food colouring we used some green to dull the colour down otherwise it would have looked slightly pink. we got a perfect mix and were proud of the outcome meaning it was ready to use for our final piece so we bottled it up and took it with us when we filmed. We filmed the process of what we did and edited it and here is the product:

Location Shots
St.Georges Hill
- a good place for us to film because of the environment and practicality for us to drive around again and again.
- quite an isolated area and appropriate street lighting at night sets a spooky atmosphere.
My House
- we have the party here.
Meg's House
- where we film the 13 days later where meg is seeing things (anna lives there, meg comes to visit).

Beginning to Plan For Final

We thought it would be a good idea to explore possible hybrids for our thriller, we did this because it meant it would be easier to narrow down a short storyline and not get too confused with that the theme was. Action thriller was our preferred hybrid so we wrote about how we narrowed it down and why we liked it and agreed that we would start thinking about further ideas and finally a storyline.
We mapped out the different sections that we needed to plan including: Main storyline, our inspiration, the use of the car and then the ideas of setting acting, shots, angles and editing. Our inspirational thriller films included - Phonebooth, Kill Bill, Silence of the Lambs, Collateral, The Firm and the Bourne Series. We listed down the shots we needed to include throughout to show our filming abilities and knowledge, we want to include: Establishing shot, Master shot, Close up, Long shot, Extreme long shot, Low angle shot, High angle shot, Crane angle shot, Wide angle shot, Panning shot, Tracking shot, Framing shot, Point of view shot and Two-shot/Three-shot. The setting we want to use is St. Georges Hill - there are a lot of windy roads and it will be dark and quite isolated at night. Myself, Meg and Jo are going to be acting and taking it in turns with the camera along with Amelia who will film the Three Shots and other shots too. We thought using the car would be quite a different thing to do, however we then discovered a following group were using a car too. This doesnt matter though, the car allows us to experiment inside and outside lots of different shots, we can then see what will work and what wont when it comes to editing this.
In this image is a very basic story board we created after brainstorming ideas. We will extend on this using more ideas and accurate planning to make sure it will fulfil everything within the 3 minute restriction for an opening of a film. The basic idea for a story is:
- In the car driving down a road at night singing and dancing and being silly.
- Someone drops a CD (this is used as the distraction) and the car hits something.
- The two people get out of the car to see what has happened.
- They then discuss what they can do (argue and worry)
- The last box we left blank, this meant we had room for thought and improvement.
